ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Navy defeated Loyola Maryland in four sets (25-20, 25-20, 20-25, 25-23) in a Patriot League women's volleyball match Saturday afternoon at Wesley A. Brown Field House. The Mids improved to 12-11 overall and 8-6 in conference play, while the Greyhounds dropped to 6-18, 4-11.
Navy jumped out to an early lead, taking the first two sets by identical 25-20 scores. Loyola responded in the third, using a .357 hitting percentage and a balanced attack to claim the set, 25-20. The fourth set was tightly contested, featuring 12 tie scores and seven lead changes, but Navy held off a late Loyola rally to secure the match, 25-23.
Ava Toppin led Navy with 20 kills on a .581 hitting percentage, adding 10 total blocks. Caroline Buffum contributed 12 kills, while Lainey Feighery chipped in with 28 assists. Navy finished with a .305 team hitting percentage and 12 total blocks.
For Loyola, Ava Nepkin paced the Greyhounds with 13 kills, while Kacy Sekunda added 10 kills, 20 assists and seven digs. Mariah Sanabia posted seven kills and a .636 hitting percentage, and Addie Lowe contributed nine kills. Elsie Afful had fifth total blocks, and Sanabia finisehd with four.
