HAMPTON, Va. – Hampton University used a 21-11 run over a seven-minute stretch of the first half to take command of Wednesday night's game against Loyola University Maryland, and the Pirates took a 93-71 non-conference decision against the Greyhounds.
Braeden Speed scored back-to-back layups for the Greyhounds to make it 16-11 Hampton with 11:06 left in the first half, but the Pirates (5-5 overall) scored the next nine points to start their run.
A Jalyke Gaines-Wyatt three with 4:11 on the clock stretched the advantage to 15, 37-22.
Jordan Stiemke led the Greyhounds (4-6) with 16 points, while Speed and
Jacob Theodosiou each scored 14.
The Greyhounds will return to action on Tuesday, December 11, with a 6 p.m. game at VMI.
