Women's Basketball Falls to Visiting Boston

Baltimore -- Boston University led from start to finish on Wednesday evening, as they picked up the big win on the road over the Loyola University Maryland women's basketball team, 55-38.

Amandine Amorich led the team with nine points on the night, while Avery Simmons added eight points. Laura Salmeron finished with seven points, while Koi Sims had seven points and 11 rebounds.

Boston started fast to open the game, as they opened up to a quick 6-0 lead. Amandine Amorich got the Greyhounds (9-16 overall, 3-11 Patriot League) on the board with a corner three-pointer from Koi Sims.

The Terriers (9-16 overall, 3-11 Patriot League) continued their fast start, as Bella McLaughlin made a pair of free throws to end the quarter with the 17-10 lead.

The second quarter opened up as a defensive struggle, as both Loyola had the only made basket over the first four minutes of action. Loyola's defense held strong throughout the quarter, as they held Boston to just seven points in the quarter.

Avery Simmons made a pair of free throws late in the quarter, as the Greyhounds closed their deficit to 24-19 heading into halftime.

Loyola managed to cut their deficit to as low as three points early in the third quarter, as both teams traded baskets over the first couple minutes of the third quarter. After a Koi Sims basket to cut their deficit down to three points, Boston used a 10-2 run over the last five minutes of the quarter, as they extended their lead to 38-27 heading into the fourth quarter.

In the fourth quarter, Loyola could not cut into the Boston lead, as the Terriers responded to each Greyhounds basket with a basket of their own, as Loyola could not mount a fourth quarter rally, as they fell 55-38 on Wednesday evening.

Aoibhe Gormley led all scorers with 16 points on the night, while Anete Adler finished with 13 points for the Terriers.

The Greyhounds will be back on the road on Saturday as they will travel to face Colgate at 2:00 PM.
