Hamilton -- The Loyola University Maryland women's basketball team cut their deficit down to three points early in the fourth quarter, but the Colgate University pulled away in the fourth quarter for the 68-57 win over the visiting Greyhounds.
Amandine Amorich knocked down a jump shot early in the forth quarter, as the Greyhounds (9-17 overall, 3-12 Patriot League) cut their deficit down to 40-37 with 9:07 remaining in the fourth quarter.
After Loyola and Colgate traded baskets, Colgate pulled away from Loyola as they used a 16-4 run over the next five minutes, as they pulled ahead 58-43.
The Raiders (21-7 overall, 11-4 Patriot League) iced the game from the foul line in the fourth quarter, as they went 19-19 from the foul line in the fourth quarter, as the Raiders held off the Greyhounds second half rally.
The third quarter was a defensive battle, as both teams struggled on the offensive end, as the teams combined for just 21 points in the quarter.
Laura Salmeron and
Koi Sims scored on back-to-back possessions for the Greyhounds late in the third quarter, as they cut their deficit down to 36-34 with 2:50 remaining in the third quarter.
Meliah Van-Otoo made one of two free throws late in the quarter, as they trailed 38-35 entering the fourth quarter.
Four players scored in double figures in the game for the Greyhounds, led by Laura Salmeron who had 14 points on the afternoon.
Koi Sims had 13 points and 12 rebounds for her 8th double-double of the season, while
Amandine Amorich added 13 points.
Meliah Van-Otoo had 10 points off the bench for Loyola.
Taylor Golembiewski scored 19 points for Colgate to lead all scorers. Morgan McMahon (15 points) and Anne Bair (10 points) both added double figures on the day.
The Greyhounds remain on the road on Wednesday, as they will travel to face Bucknell at 7:00 PM.
