BOSTON – Boston University used a 7-0 run between the second and third quarters to turn a 3-1 advantage into a 10-1 lead Saturday at Nickerson Field, and the Terriers went on to a 13-7 Patriot League victory over Loyola University Maryland.
Kenan Everhart put Loyola on the scoreboard at 12:29 in the second quarter with an unassisted goal, dodging to score after a long outlet from
Max Watkinson, but Jimmy O'Connell scored his third of the half at 9;29, and the Terriers opened the run.
Boston University led 7-1 at halftime and then it scored three more to go up 10-1 on a Timthy Shannehan goal with 3:35 left in the third.
Brady West caught a
Matthew Minicus pass on the interior of the offense and scores with less than two seconds to go in the third, and
Brady Quinn used a
Luke Murphy feed for a goal 5:44 into the fourth.
Henry Haberman added a goal off a Quinn assist at 7:44, and the Greyhounds scored three more from Everhart,
Nolan Bellotti and
Miles Halter. Bellotti and Halter had their first collegiate goals in the game.
Loyola had a 37-36 advantage in ground balls with
Carson Hall's seven leading the way. He was 11 of 18 on faceoffs.
Remi Reynolds and Everhart both had four ground balls, and Reynolds added two caused turnovers.
The Greyhounds return to Ridley Athletic Complex for a 1 p.m. game against Lafayette College on Saturday, March 22.
