CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Loyola University Maryland's
Mike Crowley is tied for 10
th individually after shooting 4-under 67 in the second round of the Lewis Chitengwa Memorial at Birdwood Golf Course.
Crowley rolled in pars on 12 of course's holes and had five birdies to go with one boxed number. He coupled that round with a 1-over 72 in the opening 18 holes and is 3-under after 36 holes at the tournament that includes three of the nation's top 30 programs in Florida State and the host Cavaliers.
He was 3-under after seven holes in his second round on Monday afternoon with birdies on the course's 16
th, first and second holes. He bogeyed the third hole before stringing together eight pars. Crowley then birdied his last two holes, the 549-yard par-5 12
th and the 209-yard par-3 13
th.
Loyola had a round that was tied for fifth best as a team in the second round, shooting 2-over 286. Only No. 11 Florida State (-10), No. 13 Virginia (-8), No. 23 Northwestern (-4) and Arkansas (+1) had better scores than the Greyhounds and Liberty at 2-over.
Jackson Roman is tied for 41
st after a 2-over 73 in the second round, and
Gustavo Rangel shot 1-under 70 during the afternoon 18 and is tied for 51
st.
Dustin Stocksdale is tied for 59
th overall, and
Lorenzo Sanz is tied for 66
th after rounds of 5-over.
Play will conclude Tuesday with the final 18 holes beginning at 8:30 a.m.
