League Matches The Rest Of The Way

  • The Loyola University Maryland volleyball team played its final non-conference match of the 2026 season and will start a stretch of 12-straight Patriot League contests to end the regular-season this weekend.
  • The Greyhounds will be on the road but sleep in their own beds with a couple of nearby trips.
  • Navy hosts Loyola at 6 p.m. on Friday, October 2, in Annapolis, Maryland, before the Greyhounds head to Washington, D.C., the following day for a 4 p.m. outing at American University.
  • Both matches are set to be streamed live on ESPN+.

Looking Back

  • The Greyhounds took a pair of Patriot League matches last weekend with a three-set sweep of Bucknell and a five-set victory over Lehigh. Loyola then played its final non-conference match of the regular-season on Tuesday, dropping a five-set contest at Coppin State.

Starting To Click

  • Loyola picked up a weekend sweep of Patriot League matches and pushed an 11-5 Coppin State team to five sets over its last three matches, seeing statistical improvements in nearly every category versus the season's first 11 contests.
  • In the last three, Loyola has hit .224 as opposed to .126 in its first 11 matches, while the Greyhounds have held their opponents to .206, down from .223. Kills per set are up more than 2.7 to 12.92 against Bucknell, Lehigh and Coppin State after averaging 10.19.
  • Defensively, Loyola has averaged 14.46 digs per set in the last three compared to 12.94 in the first 11. The block has been a lot better, too, with Loyola posting 2.23 per set to 1.56 in the early matches.
  • The attack has been keyed by increased kill numbers from Morgan Crawford and Ava Nepkin. They averaged 3.23 and 3.15 per set in the last three contests compared to 2.31 and 2.25 in the opening 11. Setters Madison Monahan and Gabi Verdicchio have boosted their numbers, too, averaging 5.77 and 4.54 per set, respectively, compared to 3.97 and 4.19.

Addie's Aces

  • Addie Huber enters this weekend's Patriot League matches leading the conference in aces and aces per set.
  • The sophomore libero has a total of 26 service aces and is averaging 0.53 aces per set. Her numbers rank No. 30 and 35, respectively, in NCAA Division I this season. She has 15 aces in the Greyhounds' last seven matches with four in both the contests against George Mason and at Army West Point.
  • Huber's 26 aces have come in just 11 matches and 49 sets this season after she logged 34 aces in 25 matches and 95 sets a year ago.

Big On The Block

  • Elsie Afful has keyed the Greyhounds' improvement in blocking of late as a part of 19 over the last three matches, an average of 1.46 per set. She came into the three-match stretch averaging 0.74 per set with 23 total blocks in Loyola's first 11 matches, and she now ranks eighth in the Patriot League with 0.95 per set.
  • Afful had her first career match with 10 or more kills, posting 12 to go with a career-high eight digs in the win over Lehigh.

Right Side Returns

  • First-year opposite Sydnee Peters has increased her hitting output with experience through the first five weeks of the season.
  • She opened the year with three kills in two matches at James Madison, and she added another three against Towson before putting away seven on 20 swings at Morgan State.
  • Recently, she tied her career-best with eight kills against Bucknell and then stretched it to nine, a total she put up against both Lehigh and Coppin State. Against the Eagles, she took 20 swings for her nine kills without an error.

Leading The Defense

  • Sophomore libero Addie Huber has taken up residence in the top six of two Patriot League statistical categories through the first 13 matches of the year.
  • In addition to her aforementioned service ace numbers, Huber ranks fifth in digs per set (4.06) and total digs (199).
  • Huber led Patriot League freshmen in digs and digs per set last season, racking up 407 total and 4.28 per set. Her digs per set mark was ninth-highest among NCAA Division I freshmen, and it was third overall in the conference regardless of class year.
  • Huber had 10 or more digs in 19 of the Greyhounds' 25 matches last season when she played every set as Loyola's starting libero. She contributed 20 or more digs in nine of those matches with 25 or more in three. In her career, she now has 10 or more in 27 of 38 matches, 20-plus in 13 and 25 or more in four.

Up Next

  • While this weekend's Patriot League road trip keeps Loyola close to home, next weekend's does the reverse.
  • Loyola will head to Worcester, Massachusetts, on Friday, October 9, to play at Holy Cross before going to Lafayette in Easton, Pennsylvania, the following day.
