Women's Soccer Draws 0-0 with Bucknell

LEWISBURG, Pa. — Loyola Maryland battled Bucknell to a scoreless draw Saturday, with goalkeeper Hannah Goetzer making a season-high eight saves to help the Greyhounds earn a point in Patriot League play at Emmitt Field at Holmes Stadium.

Neither team could find the breakthrough in a physical 90-minute match. Loyola finished with 10 shots, including four on goal, while Bucknell generated 20 shots and put eight on target. Goetzer turned aside every attempt she faced to preserve the shutout.

Loyola scored what looked like the opening goal in the first half, but the goal was overturned on a questionable offside's call after the goal.

The Greyhounds created several chances of their own, particularly after halftime. Taryn Buckley recorded two shots on goal in the opening half, both of which were stopped by Bucknell goalkeeper Sarah McFarland.

Loyola continued to pressure in the second half. Betzael Contreras put two shots wide or high early in the period, while Megan Wijdoogen and Katie Ormerod also tested the Bucknell defense.

Savannah Manset came closest to breaking the deadlock late in the match. Her 74th-minute shot was saved by McFarland, keeping the game scoreless.

Goetzer remained steady at the other end, making key saves throughout the second half, including stops on shots from Louisa Thomsen, Ava Palladino, Gaby Parker, Katie Connell and Ingrid Murphy. Her final save came with less than a minute remaining.

Loyola and Bucknell each finished with five corner kicks.

The result moved Loyola to 1-2-9 overall and 1-1-2 in Patriot League play. Bucknell moved to 5-5-3 overall and 2-0-2 in conference action.
