TOWSON, Md. – Loyola University Maryland first-year diver
Annie Dockx qualified for the NCAA Zone 'A' Diving Championships in March on Saturday when her performance in the 1-meter in a local diving meet.
Dockx scored 266.3 points on the lower board in a meet at Towson Unviersity to become the first Loyola diver to qualify for the zone meet since Lindsey Staszewski did so in 2018.
On Saturday, Dockx finished fifth in the meet with divers from Towson, Drexel University and UMBC.
Simone Abassi took 10th in the 1-meter with 210.50 points, and
Lilly Jermain was 12th with 158.95.
Dockx was fourth in the 3-meter edition of the competition with 273.30 points; Abassi took ninth with 213.70.
In the men's competition,
Sam Hersick earned sixth in the 1-meter event with 258.50 points.
George Ligozio and
Ethan Horutz took 10th and 11th, respectively, with 254.60 and 240.50 points.
Hersick led the Greyhounds on the 3-meter board, as well, with 293.3 points for fifth. Ligozio finished 10th with 265.50, and Horutz was 14th with 188.50.
