BALTIMORE — Loyola University Maryland pulled away from Bucknell University in the third quarter, pulling away for 15-9 Patriot League win Thursday night.
With 14 draws controls in the win, Mae Murphy broke the Loyola single-season draw control record, recently held by Chase Boyle (210 in 2025), as Murphy now sits at 215 this season.
The Greyhounds (11-6, 7-2 Patriot League) erupted for six unanswered goals in the third period to break open a close game, outscoring the Bison 10-5 after halftime. Loyola led just 5-4 at the break before a 6-0 third quarter, where they held Bucknell without a shot in the quarter.
Elisa Faklaris scored four goals to pace Loyola, while Emma Talago and Delaney Jackson each added three. Mim Suares-Jury finished with two goals and an assist, and Morgan Quade orchestrated the offense with a goal and and a career-high six assists and seven points.
After Bucknell (9-6, 5-4) grabbed a 4-3 lead midway through the second quarter on Regan Sansiviero's goal, Loyola answered with two straight scores. Ava Kane tied it at 4 with 7:06 left in the half off a Quade feed, and Talago gave the Greyhounds the lead for good with a short-handed goal at the 3:54 mark.
The Greyhounds then delivered the decisive burst coming out of the locker room.
Faklaris opened the third-quarter surge with a man-up goal just 2:24 into the half off a feed from Suares-Jury. She struck again at 10:00, and Jackson scored twice in a 37-second span to stretch the lead to 9-4. Quade and Faklaris added free-position goals later in the period as Loyola took an 11-4 advantage into the fourth.
Bucknell never got closer than five the rest of the way.
Loyola controlled the draw circle all evening, winning 21 draw controls to Bucknell's five, with Mae Murphy collecting 14 draw controls by herself. That possession advantage helped the Greyhounds pile up a 31-17 edge in shots and dominate the middle two quarters.
Megan Krestinski led Bucknell with three goals, while Caleigh Cummiskey added two.
Makenzie Butler made six saves for Loyola, which also successfully cleared 18 of 19 attempts.
With the win, the Greyhounds secured the third seed in the Patriot League Championship and will host sixth-seeded Boston on Sunday afternoon.
