Five Golfers Earn All-League Honors; Moloney Named Rookie of the Year

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Five Loyola University Maryland golfers were named to All-Patriot League teams on Wednesday, and Liam Moloney earned the conference's Rookie of the Year honors by a vote of the League's coaches.

Eli Spaulding and Jackson Roman were named to the All-Patriot League First Team, while Moloney, Diego Neira and Gustavo Rangel earned second-team recognition.

Moloney is the first Loyola player to be named Patriot League Rookie of the Year since Jeremy Wall earned the honor in 2015. Moloney finished the season as the top-ranked freshman in the conference, currently checking in at No. 679 in the Clippd national rankings.

He had a 72.7 adjusted scoring average in eight tournaments, and he had three top-10 finishes. Moloney took sixth at last weekend's Patriot League Championships, was eighth at Duke's Rod Myers Invitational and tied for 10th at Navy's The Goat.

Spaulding led the Greyhounds in the national rankings this season and was the third-ranked player in the Patriot League at 566 with a 72.1 adjusted scoring average. He was fifth individually at the Patriot League Championships where the Greyhounds finished third as a team.

Throughout the year, Spaulding posted five top-10 finishes, taking seventh at Florida State's Seminole Intercollegiate, tying for 10th at both the Monterrey Collegiate Classic and the Georgetown Intercollegiate and nine at The Goat.

Roman capped his collegiate career with his first All-Patriot League recognition after finishing the year ranked 767th in the Clippd rankings with a 72.8 adjusted scoring average. In March, he claimed his first collegiate victory, winning the Carpetbagger Classic.

He finished with a pair of top-10 finishes after coming in second at the Monterrey Collegiate Classic in the fall.

Neira tied for seventh at the Patriot League Championships and ended the year ranked 861st in the Clippd rankings with a 73.2 adjusted scoring average. His Patriot League finish was his second top-10 of the year after opening his Greyhounds career in September with a tie for fourth at The Goat.

Rangel finished his Loyola career with his second-straight All-Patriot League recognition after earning first-team honors last year. He was 950th in the Clippd rankings at a 73.4 adjusted scoring average. In nine tournaments, he had a season-best tie for 10th at the Loyola Intercollegiate in Arizona during February.
