BALTIMORE – Loyola University Maryland volleyball could not sustain its first-set momentum Friday night, and George Washington University came back from an opening setback for a 20-25, 25-15, 25-21, 25-13 non-conference victory in Reitz Arena.
Loyola hit .233 as a team with 11 kills and only four errors, and the Greyhounds forced George Washington into 10 hitting errors in the opening frame.
The Revolutionaries, however, had 13 blocks over the next three sets, holding Loyola to negative hitting percentages in the second and third. Meanwhile, George Washington had only 14 hitting errors in the last three sets.
Sydnee Peters led the Greyhounds with a career-high eight kills.
