WASHINGTON, D.C. – Georgetown University scored Saturday's first five points and won the opening set, 25-10, and the Hoyas went on to win the final two, 25-16, 25-21, against visiting Loyola University Maryland.
The Hoyas hit .619 in the first set with 15 kills and only two errors in 21 swings, and they went on to swing at a .312 clip in the match.
Loyola looked to push the contest to a fourth set, tying the third with an
Addie Lowe block to make it 19-19, but the Hoyas responded with five-straight points to go ahead, 24-19 and eventually close out the match.
Morgan Crawford led Loyola with eight kills, while
Sydnee Peters had seven.
The Greyhounds return to Reitz Arena on Sunday to host George Mason in a 2 p.m. match.
