BALTIMORE – Loyola University Maryland volleyball led 20-18 in the fourth set while trying to push Sunday's non-conference match against George Mason University to a deciding fifth frame, but the Patriots rallied to close the contest in four, 25-22, 20-25, 25-14, 25-21.
Addie Lowe broke an 18-18 tie with a kill, and a George Mason attack error put Loyola in front, 20-18, but Nia Thompson and Kiera Hamilton scored on back-to-back Patriots swings to tie the match at 20-20.
Morgan Crawford gave Loyola another lead, 21-20, but a Greyhounds attack error gave George Mason a sideout to tie, sparking a 5-0 Patriots' run to close the match.
Ava Nepkin had 12 kills to lead Loyola, while Crawford added 10. The two had only two errors each and hit .321 and .276, respectively. Lowe added eight kills, and
Sydnee Peters had six.
Addie Huber paced Loyola with 18 kills, and Crawford had a double-double with 11.
Gabi Verdicchio and
Madison Monahan evenly split 36 assists with 18 each.
Huber and
Ellie Joffe both had four service aces, and Joffe led Loyola with five total blocks.
