Biography

2017-2018 (Junior): Played in nine games, starting six during his junior season before missing the final 21 with an injury… Received a medical-hardship waiver and will retain his year of eligibility… Averaged 5.1 points and 3.9 rebounds in the games he played… Finished with 11 points and six rebounds at Mount St. Mary’s (12/2)... Knocked down three 3-pointers at UMass Lowell (11/26)... Scored 10 points and had six rebounds against Goucher (11/21)... Grabbed a career-best 11 rebounds in the season-opener at Northwestern (11/10).

2016-2017 (Sophomore): Started 30 games and played in all 33 in the Greyhounds’ guard rotation during his second collegiate season… Finished the year averaging 6.1 points, 2.6 rebounds and 23.1 minutes per game… Shot 73.6 percent from the free-throw line and 34.7 percent from 3-point range… Finished with 14 points and four rebounds during the CBI First Round win at George Mason (3/15)... Scored nine points, going 7-of-8 from the free-throw line against Lafayette (2/28) in the Patriot League First Round... Made two go-ahead free throws with 2:48 to go... Went 5-of-7 from the field and 4-of-4 at the line to score a career-best 16 points in a win over Bucknell (2/15)... Had a career-high four steals versus Army West Point (2/4)... Made a trio of threes and scored 11 points despite fouling out at Binghamton (12/10)... Set a career-high with nine rebounds, four on the offensive glass, against Mount St. Mary’s (12/3)... Tallied 13 points for the third time in four games and had three steals against Fairfield (11/23)... Knocked down 2 of 3 from behind the arc and finished with eight points at Notre Dame (11/18)... Scored 13, matching his career-high set just two days prior, against LIU Brooklyn (11/16)... Made 9-of-12 free throws and had five rebounds against the Blackbirds... Finished with a career-high 13, including back-to-back threes in the first half that sparked a Loyola run, against Millersville (11/14).

2015-2016 (Freshman): Played in 28 games, averaging 11 minutes per, during his first season at Loyola… Averaged 1.9 points and 1.5 rebounds per game… Scored a season-high 10 points, making two threes, against Holy Cross (2/24)... Grabbed a career-high seven rebounds, five on the offensive glass, against Boston University (2/13)... Made 2-of-3 shots and finished with four points, two rebounds and a steal at Army West Point (2/6)... Scored three points, all at the free-throw line, and had three rebounds at Lehigh (2/3).. Made 3-of-4 free throws in a win over Colgate (2/1)... Converted a 3-point play with jumper and free throw and had a steal at Holy Cross (1/27)... Hit a first-half three during a 9-0 run at No. 4 Kansas (12/1)... Finished with six points and four rebounds at UMBC (11/18)... Scored his first collegiate point on a free throw against LIU Brooklyn (11/16)... Made his Loyola debut against Tennessee State (11/13).

Before Loyola: Earned five letters in basketball, two at Scranton Preparatory Academy from 2010-2013 and another two from The Hill School where he played from 2013-2015... Averaged 17 points and eight rebounds per game as a senior at The Hill School in 2014-2015, earning All-League honors... Helped Hill win the Pennsylvania Association of Independent Schools Athletics (PAISA) 2014 title and the 2014 Mid-Atlantic Prep League (MAPL) conference crown... Averaged 13 points and eight rebounds per game as a junior... Prior to matriculating at Hill, played three seasons at Scranton Prep in his hometown... Averaged 17 points and six rebounds per game in 2011-2012 and 15 points and eight rebounds the following season... Scored 885 points during his three years at the Jesuit school and earned Lackawanna League Division I All-Star honors from the coaches in his conference... Was also an all-region first team honoree in 2011-2012 at Scranton Prep... Played AAU Basketball for JB Hoops... Helped his AAU team win the Hoop Group Buzzer Beater Classic with a 40-point effort in the championship game. Personal: James Alexander Fives... Earned All-MAPL Academic honors in 2014 and 2015...
