2022 (Graduate Student): Returns as one of the top faceoff specialists in the nation after graduating in May 2021 with his Bachelor of Business Administration… Enters the season as Loyola’s career record holder in ground balls (349), and he is 10th in career faceoff winning percentage (.527).
2021 (Senior): Named to the All-Patriot League Second Team after winning 178 of 344 (.517) faceoffs during the season… Set the school career record for ground balls in the Patriot League Semifinal against Army West Point… Went 10 of 17 in the season-opener at Richmond… Returned against Lafayette after missing one game with an injury to win 11 of 17 with seven ground balls… Went 20 of 31 with 13 ground balls versus Bucknell, and then 12 of 16 at Towson, scoring a goal, too, against the Tigers… Won 19 of 28 at the X with 16 ground balls at Navy and then won 15 of 22 with 12 ground balls against Army West Point… Won 21 of 28 draws with 11 ground balls in the Patriot League Quarterfinal against the Midshipmen.
2020 (Junior): Was one of the most dominant faceoff men in the nation, earing Inside Lacrosse All-America Third Team honors after finishing the shortened season ranked fifth nationally wuth a .687 faceoff winning percentage... Was sixth nationally with 10.33 ground balls per game... Led the Patriot League in both categories... Started the year by going 14 of 24 with eight ground balls at Virginia and then was 11 of 15 through three quarters before finishing 12 of 20 in the win over Johns Hopkins... Set a Patriot League record with 18 ground balls, while going 23 of 24 on faceoffs versus Rutgers... Named Patriot League Faceoff Specialist of the Week after that game... Was 11 of 15 with eight ground balls versus Lafayette... In the year's last game, was 16 of 26 with 11 ground balls against Duke... Named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
2019 (Sophomore): Established himself as one of the nation’s top faceoff specialists during his second season with the Greyhounds, taking all but six of Loyola’s restarts during the year… Went 246-of-471 (.522), setting Loyola single-season records in faceoffs won and taken… Also set a school record in ground balls with 141… Opened the year by going 15 of 28 against Virginia with five ground balls… Posted a mark of 16 of 23 with 11 ground balls at Rutgers to earn Patriot League Faceoff Specialist of the Week honors, his first of four during the season… Went 19 of 37 with 12 ground balls against Holy Cross and then picked up nine ground balls to go with his 13 of 22 mark at Duke… Also scored a goal against the Blue Devils… Won 17 of 23 with 10 ground balls at Bucknell and then finished 16 of 27 with 11 ground balls versus Lehigh… Grabbed a to-date career-high 13 ground balls, going 18 of 33 on restarts versus Georgetown… Won 18 of 26 with 11 ground balls at Army West Point and then went 11 of 16 with 10 ground balls at Lafayette… Won 18 of 31 with 10 ground balls against Syracuse in the NCAA First Round and then had 16 faceoff wins and nine ground balls versus Penn State in the NCAA Quarterfinal.
2018 (Freshman): Played in all 17 games, taking more than 200 faceoffs during his first year at Loyola… went 96-of-211 (.400) and picked up 44 ground balls… Also scored twice… Made his collegiate debut at Virginia (2/10)… Went 6-of-9 against Lafayette (2/24)… Took all 27 faceoffs against Bucknell (3/24), winning 12 and picking up eight ground balls… Also scored his first collegiate goal… Won 17-of-25 (.680) at the ‘X’ against Lehigh (4/7), picking up seven ground balls… Named the Patriot League Faceoff Specialist ad Rookie of the Week after the win over the Mountain Hawks… Over the next two games, was 11-of-22 with seven ground balls at Georgetown (4/10) and 15-of-25 with nine ground balls against Boston University (4/14)… Also scored against the Terriers… Won all three of his draws against Virginnia (5/12) in the NCAA First Round.
Before Loyola: Graduated from Greenwich (Conn.) High School where he was a lacrosse letterwinner… Earned USLacrosse All-America honors after his senior season in 2017 when he scored seven goals and assisted on 10 to go with 225 ground balls to help the Cardinals reach the Connecticut Class L semifinals… Was a Connecticut High School Coaches Association (CHSCA) All-State honoree as a senior and junior, earning first-team recognition in 2017 and second-team in 2016… Picked up 200 ground balls to go with 10 goals and 10 assists in 2015… Played club lacrosse for PrimeTime.
Personal: Bailey Savio… Son of Vanessa and Kenneth Savio… Has four siblings, Griffin, Graham, K.J. and Mary Kate… Honor roll student at Greenwich… Brother, Graham, was Loyola’s primary faceoff specialist for four seasons, 2014-2017, and finished his career as the Patriot League’s career leader in faceoffs won (709)… Graham finished his Loyola career with a .563 faceoff winning percentage, 340 groundballs, five goals and an assist.
