BALTIMORE - Loyola's men's and women's tennis teams both took all three doubles matches to secure the doubles point and the men went ahead and won five of six singles showdowns while the Greyhound women grabbed four of six singles contests en route to 6-1 and 5-2 victories, respectively, over Johns Hopkins on Wednesday afternoon.

Playing at Loyola's Butler Courts, the Greyhound men recorded a flawless doubles record as No. 1 team Dan Schiemel and Nick Bowers won 9-8 (5), No. 2 team John Laramie and Adam Wessinger won 8-4, and No. 3 team Jon Falcichio and John Curren won 8-4. Loyola's men continued their dominance in singles with Laramie winning at the No. 1 spot 6-0, 6-2, Bowers winning at No. 3 6-1, 7-5, Wessinger victorious at No. 4 2-6, 7-5, (9), Falcicio triumphing at No. 5 6-4, 6-1, and Curren winning at No. 6 6-3, 2-6 (3).

Head coach Rick McClure's women's team played at Hopkins, but fared just as well as the men in doubles competition with No. 1 team Carolyn Pilkington and Kaitlin Russo winning 8-1, No. 2 team Gina Turturiello and Claire Najour winning 8-3, and No. 3 tandem Amy Nitch and Stefanie Clay winning 8-3, as well. Russo then went on to win at No. 2 singles 6-1, 6-2 to add to Loyola's momentum, while Turturiello kept that momentum rolling with a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 3, Nitch tallied a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 4, and Najour closed out the Greyhound scoring with a 6-0, 6-0 rout at the No. 5 position.

Loyola's men's team improves to 5-1 with the win, while the women's team improves to 3-1 overall.
