Oct. 9, 2003

BALTIMORE - Loyola's men's tennis team won five of six singles duels and two of three doubles matches as the Greyhounds defeated Morgan State by a score of 6-1 Wednesday afternoon in a battle of two area rivals held on the Bears' campus.

Loyola's No. 1 singles player John Laramie won an intense three-setter to set the tone for the Greyhounds and Nos. 3 through 6 players, Nick Bowers, Adam Wessinger, Jonathan Falcichio, and John Curren took the momentum and ran as they all won in straight sets.

Wessinger and Laramie teamed to win at No. 2 doubles while Curren and Falcichio triumphed at No. 3 doubles to clinch the doubles point for Loyola.

The victory boosts the Greyhounds' record to an impressive 4-0.

Loyola next puts its undefeated record on the line Sunday, October 12th at 2 p.m. when it hosts Niagara in what will be Part II of a women's-men's double header between the Greyhounds and Purple Eagles. Sunday's showdown will also be the first Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) contest for both Loyola's men's and women's teams.
