Men's Tennis Claws Morgan State 6-1

Baltimore, Md. - Loyola's men's tennis team won the doubles point and five of six singles matches en route to defeating Morgan State by a score of 6-1 in a non-conference match on Wednesday afternoon at the Greyhounds' Butler Courts.

Trevor McDonough led the way for Loyola as he won a three-set match to clinch his No. 1 singles contest and he combined with Nick Bowers to cruise to an 8-1 victory at No. 1 doubles.

McDonough lost the first set of his singles match 6-1, but came back to win Sets Two and Three 7-6 along with a two-point tie-breaker in the final set.

Three Greyhounds won their singles matches in straight sets. Rob Palliser won at No. 3 6-1, 6-2, John Curran won at No. 5 6-0, 6-1, and Ben Epstein won at No. 6 6-1, 6-2. Loyola's other singles win of the day came from Scott Gannon at the No. 4 slot as he snatched a 6-4, 1-6, 6-4 victory.

Gannon and Curran teammed for Loyola's second doubles win yesterday with an 8-6 triumph at No. 3 doubles.

With the win, Head Coach Rick McClure's squad improves to 2-0 on the year.
