LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ - Loyola's women's tennis team won eight of nine matches in cruising to a 6-1 win over Rider while the Greyhound men took the doubles point and four of five singles matches en route to a 5-2 victory over the Broncs on Friday afternoon in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) action.

Playing in their second-to-last match of the regular season, Loyola's women won all three doubles matches and five of six singles matches in straight-sets. Kaitlin Russo and Carolyn Pilkington's 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles highlighted the day for the 'Hounds as the triumph moved Russo into second-place on Loyola's all-time doubles wins list with 70. Russo's partner, Pilkington, added to her school record for most doubles wins in a career as she now has 71.

Amy Nitch and Jessica Liberatore won 8-2 at No. 2 doubles and Gina Turturiello and Claire Najour won 8-1 at No. 3 doubles to complete the doubles sweep for the Greyhounds. In singles action, Russo won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2, Turturiello won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3, Nitch won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 4, Liberatore won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5, and Najour won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6.

In Loyola's men's final warmup for the MAAC Championships, Nick Bowers and Dan Schiemel combined to win 8-1 at No. 1 doubles and Bill Horne and Turner Bailey, who was making his collegiate tennis debut, won 8-2 at No. 3 doubles to clinch the doubles point for the 'Hounds.

Bowers won at No. 1 singles as he rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 win, Schiemel notched his second victory of the day with a 6-0, 6-7, 6-1 triumph at No. 2 singles, No. 4 singles player John Curren won 6-0, 6-1, and Horne clinched his second win of the day with a 6-2, 7-5 victory at the No. 5 slot.

With the wins, Loyola's women improve to 14-4 on the season while the men get back to the .500 mark at 10-10.
