'Hound Top Rider In Consolation Bracket

Flushing, N.Y. - The Greyhound men rebounded from their first round loss in the MAAC Tennis Championships to defeat Rider in the consolation bracket. Loyola took 2-of-3 doubles' matches, and 4-of-6 singles' contests on their way to a 5-2 victory over the seventh-seeded Broncs.

In the doubles competition, Loyola won the No.1 and No. 3 matches. The top Greyhound duo of Nick Bowers and Dan Schiemel won their match convincingly, 8-1, while the No. 3 team of Adam Wessinger and Turner Bailey, also defeated their opponents, 8-3.

Loyola received a strong performance in the singles competitions from Adam Wessinger and John Curren. Both Wessinger and Curren won the No. 4 & 5 matches with ease, 6-1, 6-3. Nick Bowers defeated Rider's No. 1 player, 6-0, 5-7 (10), while Dan Schiemel defeated the No. 2 Broncs' player, 6-4, 6-3.

On Sunday, Loyola will face Siena College for fifth place in the MAAC Championship.
