Washington, D.C. - Loyola's men's and women's tennis teams had a successful weekend against some of the best squads in the Baltimore-D.C. area at the D.C. Metropolitan Championships hosted by Georgetown University on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Scott Gannon posted a singles win for the Greyhounds with a 6-5, 6-4 victory over Nick Schapiro of George Mason while Anthony Ciricillo defeated Rob Dupaya of Mount Saint Mary's 6-2, 6-2. Turner Bailey won his consolation singles match over George Mason's Rob Santos 4-6, 6-4, 10-4.

Rob Palliser and Cirillo recorded a No. 4 doubles win for the Greyhounds over UMBC and Chad Morrow and Turner Bailey won 8-6 at No. 5 doubles over Catholic University.

On the women's side, Jessica Liberatore got a bye in the first round and won her second round match 7-5, 6-1 before falling in the quarterfinals to Liz Winokur of Georgetown.

Loyola's Amanda Wilhelm also advanced to the quarterfinals with her second round 6-3, 6-2 win over George Mason's Jacqueline Sherbondy before falling to the Hoyas' Eileen Boyle. Janet Reuter saw quarterfinal action as well for Loyola with a win over Howard's Ayana Hipolite in Round Two.

Greyhound senior Claire Najour won her consolation singles match over Ashley Wenzel of The Mount by a score of 6-0, 6-3.

Reuter and Wilhelm recorded Loyola's lone doubles win of the Championships with an 9-7 victory over Mount Saint Mary's at the No. 4 slot.
