Women's Tennis Defeats IUP-Fort Wayne, Men Fall

Buffalo, N.Y. - Loyola's women's tennis team lost all three doubles matches, but came back to win all six singles showdowns en toute to a 6-1 win over Indiana University of Purdue-Fort Wayne while the Greyhound men fell 6-1 to IUPFW during neutral-site affairs on Sunday.

Amy Nitch won at No. 1 singles 7-6, 7-5, Jessica Liberatore won at No. 2 in a three-hour marathon by a score of 3-6, 6-4, 6-2, Meaghan McKenna also won a three-setter, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 and Christi Lazar rallied from a 6-1, 5-1 and love-40 deficit to win 1-6, 7-6, 6-3. Claire Najour won 7-5, 6-1 and Stefanie Clay won 6-1, 6-0 at Nos. 5 and 6, respectively to round out Loyola's scoring.

The Greyhound men managed just one doubles win as Dan Schiemel and Ben Epstein combined for an 8-5 victory at No. 3 and one singles win from Trevor McDonogh at No. 1, 6-0, 6-1, in the loss.

Scott Gannon and Ben Epstein fell just short of registering singles wins. Gannon won Set One 6-4, but fell 7-6 in Set Two and 13-11 in a super-set tiebreaker. Epstein lost Set One 7-5, but came back to win Set Two 6-2 before falling in a super-set tiebreaker 10-7.
