Men's Tennis Defeats District Of Columbia, 6-1

Baltimore, Md. - The Loyola men's tennis team improved its season mark to 4-4 with a 6-1 win over the District of Columbia on Sunday afternoon at the Butler Courts. The Greyhounds swept the doubles' point and won No. 2 through No. 6 singles in the win.

The sophomore tandem of Ben Epstein and Scott Gannon got the match started by winning at No. 1 doubles, taking an 8-5 victory from the District of Columbia. Freshman Sean Wall and sophomore Chad Morrow clinched the point with an 8-1 win at No. 2 while freshmen Sean Kraft and Tom Kelly captured the third doubles' match, 8-3.

In singles competition, Epstein played a very competitive match at No. 1, winning the first set 6-3, falling in the second set, 3-6 and then dropping a tough 10-5 tie-breaker in the third set.

Gannon rebounded for a win at No.2 while Wall won at No. 3, Morrow took the No. 4 singles' match and freshmen Kelly and Kraft won at No. 5 and No. 6 respectively.

The Greyhounds will play a make-up match at George Mason on Wednesday before heading to Delaware State on Friday.
