Men's Tennis Upended At George Mason

March 22, 2006

Box Score

Fairfax, Va. - Freshman Sean Wall defeated Jordan Lipstock at No. 3 singles to give Loyola its lone point on Wednesday afternoon at George Mason University. The men's tennis team, playing with only five guys, fell to 4-5 on the season with a 5-1 loss to the Patriots.

Two of the Patriots' five points came by default as Ben Epstein pulled out of the No. 1 singles' competition with a bad back after taking the first point of the match. Loyola, without a player for No. 6 singles, also forfeited the point there.

With no doubles' competition, Wall was able to get a quick point for the Greyhounds, winning his match in straight sets (6-2, 6-4). Sophomore Scott Gannon played a hard-fought match at No. 2 singles, but fell 6-2, 7-6 (5) while Chad Morrow and Sean Kraft dropped their singles matches at No. 4 and No. 5.

The Greyhounds return to competition with a busy weekend on the road. They travel to Delaware State on Friday, play Wagner at Staten Island College on Saturday and play at Monmouth on Sunday.
