Women's Track And Field Prepares For Penn Relays

April 26, 2006

BALTIMORE, Md. - Coming off an outstanding performance at last weekend's Widener Invitational, the Greyhound women's track and field team will compete at the prestigious Penn Relays at the University of Pennsylvania this weekend.

Junior Andrea Rovegno will make her second straight appearance in the Penn Relays, competing in the 5000-meter run. Last year, she finished in seventh place in the 3000-meter run. "This year, [Rovegno] hopes to better her time from Duke and run possibly a personal best of under 17:00," Coach Julie Culley said. "She is fit and ready to do so."

In addition to her individual event, Rovegno will also compete in the 4x800 relay team, which will also consist of Caroline Scott, Michelle McVann and Kelly Wolf. "We are very pleased with the acceptance of the 4x800m squad," Culley said. "Acceptance into any Penn Relay college event is extraordinary. It is a tribute to the progress and hard effort of the young ladies in our program."

"This is a great opportunity for us to showcase our talent," Culley continued.

In addition, the Greyhounds will also compete at the Lions Invitational on the campus of the College of New Jersey.
