FAIRFAX, Va. –
Lauryn Clarke became the second woman in Loyola University Maryland track and field history to win an ECAC Outdoor Championships title on Sunday, taking first in the 200 meters in the meet at George Mason.
Clarke set a school record in the process, running 24.10 seconds into a headwind to edge Sacred Heart's Sierra Thompson by two-hundredths of a second. Richmond's Gabrielle Cummings was third in 24.33.
Her victory in the race is the second for a Loyola woman and the first since Heather Merrifield won the 400-meter hurdles in 2019. Clarke is also the first in Loyola history to earn a podium finish in two events in the same ECAC Championships.
She took second in the 100 meters, running the fastest all-conditions time in school history. She ran a wind-aided 11.71 seconds for the silver behind Quinnipiac's Nyasia Dailey's 11.59.
Maddie Van Haren ran a personal-best in the 200 meters, finishing with the ninth-fastest time in school history of 25.18 seconds for 17
th place.
Jane Mazzeo was 33
rd overall in 26.38 seconds.
Lauren Gerow was 19
th in the 400-meter hurdles in 66.34 seconds, and
Meghan Leonard took 20
th in 66.94.
Kiera Udell ran 10:47.65 for 11
th in the 3,000 meters.
