ANNAPOLIS, Md. –
Nelly Cruz ran the fastest 100-meter hurdles time in school history on Friday, as the Greyhounds competed at the Navy National Elite Meet.
Cruz clocked 14.53 seconds in the race, knocking 0.24 off her personal best and eclipsing the school record of 14.56 set in 2021 by Kathleen Shepherd. She finished second in the race to Maryland's Ogechi Uzoukwu.
Lauryn Clarke won the 100 meters in 11.98 seconds, edging Maryland's Bryce Hatcher by two-hundredths of a second with the 10th-fastest time in the event in school history.
Jane Mazzeo took sixth in the 100, running 12.35, one-hundredth of a second in front of
Caroline Blakeslee, two-hundredths faster than
Maddie Van Haren.
Gabby Snowden ran the sixth-fastest 200-meter time in school history, finishing fourth in 24.64 seconds to lead five other Greyhounds in the event.
Van Haren took seventh in 24.98, Clarke was eighth in 25.19,
Olivia Dever finished 12th in 25.99,
Nicolette Militi clocked 26.36 for 14th, and
Ellisa Sadler was 16th in 27.15.
Kat Zysk paced four Greyhounds in the 400 meters, running 59.32 seconds for fifth.
Claire Dalsass and
Lauren Gerow were seventh and eighth in 60.11 and 61.02, respectively, while
Claire Griffin finished 10th in 61.92.
Griffin, Zysk, Snowden and Dalsass ran unopposed in the 4x400 relay and finished in 4:01.93.
In the distance carnival portion of the meet,
Stella Mische led a trio of Greyhounds in the 800 meters with an eighth-place finish in 2:17.81, while
Zoe Keefe was 10th in 2:19.12, and
Meghan Leonard took 14th in 2:24.33.
Kayla Hayes ran 4:47.58 for sixth in the 1,500 meters.
Maeve Lowther was eighth and
Mackenzie Newman ninth with times of 4:48.92 and 5:00.47, respectively.
