Fairfield Tops Men's Tennis, 6-1

New Haven, Conn. - Ben Epstein won a hard-fought No. 3 singles match, but the Greyhounds fell 6-1 to Fairfield at Yale's indoor tennis center on Saturday night. After dropping the first set, 2-6, Epstein won the second set 6-1 and came out on top in third and final set, 7-5.

The men won at No. 2 doubles with Sean Wall and Chad Morrow claiming a 9-8 victory. Epstein and Scott Gannon played a tough No. 1 doubles' match, but fell 8-6 as Fairfield won the point.

On the women's side, Amy Nitch battled back from a 4-0 deficit in her third set No. 1 singles match and was able to fight off five match points to claim victory for herself and the women's team.

Nitch's three-hour match, which concluded early Sunday morning, was set up by Loyola victories at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 5 singles. Jessica Liberatore won the No. 2 match with 6-3, 6-3 victories, Meaghan McKenna won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2, and Mallory Tarca won her No. 5 match in straight sets - 6-1, 6-3.

Both the men and women will be in action on Sunday when they face Saint Peter's College in Jersey City, N.J.
