`Hounds Top Catholic In Men's Tennis Action

Washington, D.C. - The Loyola men's tennis team won for the second straight day, defeating Catholic University on Wednesday afternoon. The Greyhounds claimed a 6-1 victory in Washington, D.C. to improve to 4-3 on the year.

The `Hounds swept the doubles' point with co-captains Scott Gannon and Ben Epstein winning 8-6 at No. 1, junior Rob Palliser and freshman Tim Koch winning 8-0 at No.2, and junior Chad Morrow and freshman Matt McDaniel winning 8-0 at No. 3.

Gannon continued Loyola's success in singles with hard-fought victory at No. 1. Gannon won the first set, 7-5, fell 6-7 in the second set before taking the super tiebreaker, 10-8.

The Greyhounds would gain momentum and roll from there, winning in straight sets in Nos. 3-6 singles. McDaniel won at No. 3, Palliser was victorious at No. 4, Koch picked up the win at No. 5 and freshman Peter Edgar won at No. 6.

Loyola continues a very busy week (and weekend) of tennis, hosting Delaware State this Friday, traveling to LaSalle on Saturday and hosting Lafayette on Sunday.
