Baltimore, Md. - The Loyola men's and women's tennis teams earned a sweep of District of Columbia on Wednesday afternoon in Towson, Md. The men claimed a 6-1 win to improve to 5-3 on the season, while the women won 7-0 to increase their season record to 5-2.

On the men's side, junior captains Scott Gannon and Ben Epstein won a tight 9-8 doubles match at No. 1, winning the tiebreak set, 7-4. Junior Rob Palliser teamed up with freshman Tim Koch to clinch the point with an 8-1 win at No. 2, while junior Chad Morrow and freshman Matt McDaniel won 8-0 at No. 3.

In singles action, Epstein won 7-6, 6-3 at No. 2 to begin a string of straight-set victories through No. 6. McDaniel won at No. 3, Palliser took No. 4, Koch won No. 5 and freshman Peter Edgar won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6.

On the women's side, freshen Caitlyn Day and Stephanie Dunn teamed up to win 9-7 at No. 1. The freshmen tandem of Kerri Swan and Lauren Cassle then claimed an 8-1 victory at No. 2 while junior co-captains Meaghan McKenna and Mallory Tarca won 8-0 at No. 3.

The singles matches also went Loyola's way with Day winning at No. 1, Swam winning at No. 2, Dunn taking the No. 3 match, Cassle winning at No. 4, McKenna victorious at No. 5 and Tarca winning at No. 6.

Both the men and women will return to action this Friday when they host Mount St. Mary's at 3 p.m.
