Tennis Falls To Siena In MAAC Competition

Loudenville, N.Y. - Loyola's men's and women's tennis teams fell by scores of 5-2 to MAAC foe Siena on Saturday in Upstate New York. With the loss, the men's team drops its overall record to 6-3, while the women are now 7-4 on the year.

In women's action, juniors Meaghan McKenna and Mallory Tarca picked up wins on the singles' side. McKenna earned a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles while Tarca captured a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 6.

The men's team earned its two points at Nos. 3 and 4 singles play. Freshman Matt McDaniel won a 6-2, 6-2 No. 3 singles match while Rob Palliser earned a tight 7-6, 6-4 victory at No. 4. Junior Ben Epstein fell in a hard-fought three-set No. 2 singles match while McDaniel and freshman Tim Koch dropped a close 9-8 (14) doubles match at No. 2.

Both the men and women continue MAAC conference play at Marist on Sunday.
