Baltimore, Md. - The Loyola men's and women's tennis teams earned a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference split with Manhattan on Friday afternoon in Baltimore. The women earned a hard fought 4-3 win while the men fell by a score of 6-1 to the Jaspers.

The women entered singles' play with a point for the doubles' competition. Freshmen Caitlyn Day and Stephanie Dunn won 8-2 at No. 1 doubles, while junior co-captains Mallory Tarca and Meaghan McKenna claimed an 8-3 win to seal the point.

Freshman Kerri Swan gave Loyola its second point with a 7-5, 6-4 victory at No. 2 singles and McKenna picked up a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 5 singles to leave the match up to freshman Lauren Cassle. With the two teams knotted at 3-3, Cassle tied 4-4 in her third set before pulling away for the 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 win.

On the men's side, freshman Peter Edgar gave Loyola its point with a 7-5, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles. Juniors Scott Gannon and Ben Epstein fell in straight sets at Nos. 1 and 2 singles, while junior Rob Palliser and freshman Tim Koch, who also dropped singles matches, teamed up for a tough 9-8 loss at No. 3 doubles.

The men are now 8-6 overall, while the women improve to 9-4 this season. Both squads return to action on Saturday when they host Fairfield at the Butler Courts.
