Women's Track Posts Top-5 Finishes At Rider

Lawrenceville, N.J. - The Loyola women's track team posted three Top-5 finishes at the Rider Invitational on Saturday afternoon in Lawrenceville, N.J. Sophomores Alexandra Salani and Nicole Gihuley each finished fourth in their respective races to highlight Loyola's day.

Salani's finish came in the 5,000-meters with a time of 19.38, while Gihuley ran a 13.01 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Senior Carolyn Kennington then placed fifth in the javelin with a throw of 120 feet.

In the sprints, Loyola also scored very well with freshman Lisa Edwards leading the way in the 100- and 400-meter dashes. Edwards led four Greyhounds at 14 seconds or under in the 100-meters with a time of 13.4. Freshman Eve Mizerak ran the race in 13.5, freshman Ashley Kennedy finished in 13.7, while freshman Brittany Goodby crossed the finish line in 14 seconds.

In the 400-meters, Edwards posted a time of 61.4, ahead of Kennedy (62.5) and sophomore Brittany McDonald, who ran a 63.1. Edwards, McDonald and Kennedy also raced well in the 200-meters, but it was Mizerak who posted Loyola's best time in the event with a 27.37.

The Greyhounds return to action at the Widener Invitational this Friday afternoon.
