Loyola University Maryland track and field turned in several strong performances Saturday at the Navy Invitational, highlighted by a victory and multiple podium finishes on the women's side.
Caroline Blakeslee led the way for the Greyhounds by winning the women's 200 meters with a time of 25.15 seconds, marking the ninth-fastest performance in program history.
Maddie Van Haren followed with a fourth-place finish in 25.33, while
Jane Mazzeo placed seventh in 26.28.
Olivia Dever finished 10th in 26.52,
Mia Maselli was 12th in 26.88,
Nelly Cruz took 13th in 27.18, and Chelsea Ayitey‑Adjin placed 17th in 28.91.
Loyola earned a runner-up finish in the women's 4x100-meter relay as
Lauryn Clarke,
Gabby Snowden, Van Haren and Blakeslee combined for a time of 47.62 seconds. A second Greyhound relay team of Dever, Leanely Cruz, Mazzeo and Maselli finished fourth in 49.14.
Snowden also placed fifth in the 100 meters with a time of 12.20 seconds, the third-best performance in the event in program history. Van Haren finished seventh in 12.27, ranking fifth all-time at Loyola, while Mazzeo placed eighth in 12.37 and Maselli finished 14th in 12.90.
In the 1,500 meters,
Kayla Hayes led Loyola with an eighth-place finish in 4:50.23.
Selah Decatur placed 11th in 5:07.74, Abby Arseneau finished 12th in 5:10.54, and
Maddie Hyde crossed the line in 13th at 5:24.69.
Claire Griffin paced the Greyhounds in the 800 meters, placing ninth in 2:17.92.
Kat Zysk finished 14th in 2:20.36,
Claire Dalsass was 21st in 2:23.80, and
Zoe Keefe placed 23rd in 2:25.15.
In the 3,000-meter steeplechase,
Maeve Lowther finished 12th in 11:34.34, followed by
Mackenzie Newman in 14th at 12:11.15.
Nelly Cruz led Loyola in the 100-meter hurdles with a sixth-place finish in 15.10. Julia Kaoma placed 17th in 18.82, and Lizzie Vigliotti finished 18th in 21.97.
Lauren Gerow earned a sixth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 65.61. Vigliotti followed in seventh at 67.24, and
Meghan Leonard placed ninth in 68.54.
The Greyhounds fielded two teams in the women's 4x400-meter relay. Griffin, Zysk, Keefe and Dalsass finished sixth in 4:06.38, while Lowther, Snowden,
Stella Mische and Dever placed seventh with the same time.
Loyola also had several men's cross country student-athletes compete unattached at the meet. Will Lancaster placed 12th in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:09.21, while Cal Lipkin finished 15th in 4:18.31. Logan Eagles ran the 800 meters and placed 21st in 2:05.10. Matt Bradley earned a seventh-place finish in the 5,000 meters, crossing the line in 16:17.01.
