The Loyola University Maryland women's track and field team completed a busy opening day Saturday at the 2026 Patriot League Indoor Track & Field Championships, recording a fifth-place relay finish and an individual school record as highlights.
The Greyhounds' top result came in the women's 4x800-meter relay, where the team of
Claire Griffin,
Meghan Leonard,
Claire Dalsass and Katrina Zysk finished fourth overall with a time of 9:00.01. The time is the third-best in school history.
Junior
Nelly Cruz finished 10th in the 60-meter hurdles, clocking a school-record time of 9.03 seconds.
In the women's 5,000 meters, sophomore
Kayla Hayes placed 19th overall in the championship final, crossing the line in 17:45.91.
Loyola also saw extensive action in preliminary rounds across sprint and middle-distance events. In the 60 meters, senior
Lauryn Clarke finished ninth overall with a time of 7.68. Freshman
Gabby Snowden placed 14th overall in 7.74, while junior
Jane Mazzeo finished 21st with a time of 7.93.
The Greyhounds had three competitors in the 200 meters. Snowden recorded a time of 25.17 to place 20th overall. Sophomore
Maddie Van Haren followed with a 30th-place finish in 25.72, and junior
Julia Baguiao finished 33rd overall in 26.39.
In the 400 meters, Loyola placed four athletes in the opening round. Freshman
Caroline Blakeslee ran 57.32 to finish 16th overall. Freshman
Olivia Dever placed 29th in 59.92, freshman Lizzie Vigliotti was one spot behind in 1:00.24, while sophomore
Nicolette Militi recorded a time of 1:00.65 to finish 31st. Senior
Lauren Gerow rounded out the group with a 32nd-place finish in 1:00.77.
In the mile, senior
Maeve Lowther completed the opening round in 5:12.72, finishing 20th overall.
Loyola returns to the track Sunday for remaining events as the Patriot League Championships continue.
