Men's Tennis Tops Coppin State

Baltimore, Md. - The Loyola men's tennis team improved to 2-0 this season with a 6-1 win over Coppin State on Wednesday afternoon at the Butler Courts. The Greyhounds swept the doubles point and won five of six singles matches for the victory.

In doubles action, senior Scott Gannon teamed up with sophomore Tim Koch for an 8-6 win at No. 1, while senior Doug Alban and freshman Dan D'Agostino clinched the point with an 8-1 win at No. 2.

The Greyhounds earned singles victories at No. 1 and Nos. 3-6. Gannon won a hard fought 7-6 (8-6), 6-4 match at No. 1, where he fought off two match points in the tie-breaker for the first set. Alban won 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 at No. 3 singles while D'Agostino (6-2, 6-0) and freshman Jamie Russo (6-0, 6-0) won in straight sets at No. 5 and No. 6 singles respectively.

The men's tennis team, 2-0 this season, will play in the ECAC Tournament this Saturday in Bethlehem, Pa.
