Tennis Falls To Marist

Baltimore, Md. - The Loyola men's and women's tennis teams dropped Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) matches to Marist on Sunday evening in Baltimore. The women fell to 6-6 on the year with a 6-1 loss, while the men were swept 7-0 to fall to 7-6 this season.

In women's action, the Greyhounds played competitive doubles matches at Nos. 1 and 3, falling 8-4 in each match. Kerri Swan and Joy Johnson played at No. 1 doubles, while Andie Keyser- Baker and Lauren Cassle teamed up at No. 3.

Cassle later won at No. 6 singles, taking 6-4, 6-3 sets to give Loyola its team point. Swan dropped a gutsy 0-6, 6-3 (15-13 tiebreaker) at No. 2, while Caitlyn Day (No. 1), Johnson (No. 3), Stephanie Dunn (No. 4) and Meaghan McKenna (No. 5) fell in straight sets.

The men also lost in straight sets. Competing at No. 1 was senior co-captain Scott Gannon. At No. 2 singles it was Matt McDaniel, at No. 3 Tim Koch. Senior Doug Alban played No. 4 singles for the `Hounds, while freshmen Dan D'Agostino and Jamie Russo filled Loyola's No. 5 and No. 6 spots respectively.

The Greyhounds return to action on Monday when they travel to Rider for a make-up MAAC contest with the Broncs.
