- Loyola is beginning its 45th season as a women's basketball program and its 35th year of competition as an NCAA Division I program. Prior to 1981, the Greyhounds competed in the Mid-Atlantic Region of the Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW).
- The 2013-14 season was Loyola's inaugural year as a member of the Patriot League.
- Prior to joining the League, Loyola was a member of the Northeast Conference for nine seasons (1980-89), before joining the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference in 1989. The Greyhounds posted an overall record of 196-205 in MAAC games and won two MAAC Championships, in 1993 and 1994.
THINGS TO KNOW
- Loyola returns from the Thanksgiving holiday to take on Columbia University Saturday afternoon in New York City. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m.
- Saturday's game will mark the first of four-straight road games for the Greyhounds.
- Most recently, Loyola fell to William & Mary, 62-61, at home in Reitz Arena.
- This season, two Greyhounds - senior Colleen Marshall and sophomore Bri Betz-White - are averaging double figures in scoring. Marshall is averaging a team-best 16.4 points per game, which is ranked sixth among Patriot League competitors. Betz-White is averaging 15.0 points per game, which is ranked ninth in the League.
- Loyola has had three different Greyhounds score in double figures in three of the last four games.
- This season, Loyola's offensive output has improved as the Greyhounds are averaging 58.6 points per game. That is up from last season, when Loyola averaged only 52.7 points per game.
- Loyola's 3-point field goal percentage (.326) ranks third in the Patriot League.
- Defensively, the Greyhounds are tied for fourth among Patriot League teams with 3.0 blocks per game.
- Senior Jeneh Perry leads the team with 7.2 rebounds per game, and is ranked eighth among Patriot League competitor in rebounds per game.
- The Greyhounds return nine players from a team that went 7-23 overall last season.
- Loyola is one of 25 NCAA Division I programs to return all five starters from the 2014-15 season.
LAST TIME OUT
- William & Mary converted a free throw with one second remaining in regulation to hand Loyola a 62-61 loss at Reitz Arena Monday night.
- Loyola had a 19-16 lead in the first quarter, but the Greyhounds could not hold off William & Mary's offense in the second quarter.
- The Tribe extended their lead to as many as 14, but the Greyhounds continued to chip away at their deficit, eventually pulling even on a layup by senior Jeneh Perry, 56-56, with just over three minutes remaining in the game.
- A 3-point field goal from sophomore Bri Betz-White at the 1:44 mark gave Loyola a 61-58 advantage, but the Tribe went on to score four-unanswered points to secure the one-point victory.
- Colleen Marshall led the Greyhounds with a game-high 23 points, while Perry registered her third career double-double, finishing the game with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Betz-White added 12 points to mark her fourth double-digit performance in five games this season.
SERIES HISTORY VERSUS COLUMBIA
- This will be the third all-time meeting between Loyola and Columbia.
- The series is knotted 1-1, with both teams winning their respective home games.
- Columbia was victorious at Francis S. Levien Gymnasium in 2006, when the Lions defeated the Greyhounds, 75-69.
- The following year, Loyola came out on top when it hosted Columbia, winning 66-49.
