Delmarva Bound
  • Loyola University Maryland volleyball heads to the Delmarva Peninsula this weekend for three matches in tournament play at the UMES Fall Fling sponsored by Courtyard.
  • The Greyhounds will take on Manhattan College on Friday, Sept. 11, and University of Maryland Eastern Shore and North Carolina Central University the following day.

Back-To-Back
  • Loyola won its second-straight match Tuesday night and third in its last five outings when it topped Saint Francis (Pennsylvania) in three. It marked the first time since November 2013 that the Greyhounds have won back-to-back matches (at Holy Cross & Army West Point).

Making Strides
  • In just eight matches this year, Loyola has exceeded its win total from the 2014 season, winning three of its last five contests. The Greyhounds' statistical performances bear out those results, as well.
  • Through the Saint Francis match, Loyola is hitting .170 this year, up from .127 a year ago. Other numbers have seen a significant uptick, too: kills per set (11.64-10.54), assists per set (10.96-9.94), digs per set (14.32-13.59) and blocks per set (2.00-1.19).

Attack On Point
  • Loyola hit a season-best .330 (45-8-112) against Saint Francis, its best mark since midway through the 2013 season. Stacey Kazalas led the way with 15 kills and just one error in 37 swings, hitting at a .378 clip against the Red Flash, while Molly Cichosz hit .320 with an 11-3-25 line. Haley Puddy (9) and Corri Waters (5) combined for 14 kills in the middle with just one error each, and setter Molly Werts had four kills herself.
  • Kazalas and Cichosz rank third (3.36) and fifth (3.14), respectively, in kills per set in the Patriot League, making the Greyhounds one of only two schools (Army West Point) to have two players who average three or more kills per set. Haley Puddy is fifth in the conference and tops among freshmen in hitting percentage (.323).

Defensive Minded
  • Loyola's defense has also been strong of late with Micah Duzey leading the way with 3.54 digs per set, No. 6 in the league. Puddy is fifth in the conference with 1.07 blocks per set, and Loyola is fifth in the league in both team categories.
