LEWISBERRY, Pa. - In their final race opportunity before the Dad Vail and Patriot League Championships, the Loyola University Maryland rowing teams had seven boats medal at the Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference Championships Saturday afternoon at Gifford Pinchot State Park.

Coldel Reynolds and David Bjorklund started competition early in the morning, taking second behind Lafayette in the men's pair. The duo crossed the finish line in 7:53.79.

Victor Santiago, Joseph Yacobucci, Ryan Brown, Ryan Scott, David Dukenik, Robert Moore, John Dougherty, Liam Marmo and coxswain Patrick Flynn won the men's varsity eight petite finals after qualifying with Loyola's fastest time of the afternoon, 6:11.36. The Greyhounds took the petite finals' crown in 6:21.90, ahead of crews from Franklin & Marshall, St. Mary's, Maryland and Susquehanna.

Flynn, Santiago, Scott, Brown and Moore went on to also win the men's varsity four grand finals. Loyola's "A" boat came across the finish line in 6:45.44, while the "B" boat of Yacobucci, Dougherty, Dukenik, Marmo and cox Mike Russo took fourth in 6:52.71.

Russo and the men's novice eight crew (Jacob Landis, Nick Trautwein, Ryan Elliott, Chris Rynne, Kunle' Soniregun, Erik Magnuson, Andrew Ramirez and Daniel Lecce) finished second and came across the finish line in 6:26.34.

The women's novice four crew of Emma Sharon, Rhys Schueren, Kristyn Rooney, Natasha Lobo and coxswain Aubrey Lewis highlighted the women's races, as the Greyhounds took first in both their qualifying heat and the grand finals. The boat clocked a final race time of 8:08.70, while the women's varsity four "A" boat (Natasha Murray, Megan Rabenberg, Corinne Conyngham, Keenan Gibbons and cox Serena Rivera) took second in their respective grand finals race with a time of 7:53.66.

Rivera, Murray, Rabenberg, Conyngham and Gibbons, along with Lauren Howe, Meaghan Kaiser, Lilly Lane and Emily Mansour combined to take third in the women's varsity eight grand finals. The Greyhounds shaved more than four seconds off their qualifying time, coming across the finish line in 7:13.82 for the grand finals.

Loyola will return to the water Saturday, May 13, when the women compete at the Patriot League Championships and the men at the Dad Vail Championships.
