BALTIMORE - A number of Loyola University Maryland student-athletes were recognized this year for their outstanding accomplishments in the classroom and community.

Chris Myers and Bailey Mathis from the men's and women's lacrosse programs were recently selected by their peers to join Loyola's prestigious Green and Grey Society.

A group of 14 student leaders who are members of the senior class, the Green and Grey Society serves as a liaison to Loyola President Rev. Brian Linnane, S.J., other administrators and the school's Board of Trustees.

Also, four student-athletes were among those chosen to join the Sellinger Scholars program, an honor reserved for the top first-year students in the business school.

Patrick Bohen and Hana You from Loyola's rowing teams, along with Alex Buchholz from men's cross country and Christina Daniels from women's cross country and track, will all be a part of the Class of 2019.

The Sellinger Scholars program is an honors program in business administration designed to prepare high achieving and highly motivated undergraduate students for roles of leadership and service in a diverse and changing world.

The program has two primary components: honors level coursework, as well as participation in leadership development, social justice exploration and professional, social and community service initiatives in the Baltimore-Washington area. The program is designed to enhance the student's academic experience, as well as provide them with professional development opportunities.

To be eligible, a student must have completed 30 credits (excluding AP credits) in their freshman year, carried a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 that year and be majoring in accounting or business administration. Admission is competitive and limited to no more than 30 students per class year.

Following their acceptance, Sellinger Scholars must maintain 15 credits per semester and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.4 in order to remain in the program.

Additionally, the following student-athletes were inducted into Loyola's circle of Omicron Delta Kappa, a national leadership honor society.
