Loyola University Maryland's rowing teams turned in a strong showing at the Head of the Occoquan Regatta, highlighted by a dominant performance from the men's squad, which swept all sweep events.
The Men's Varsity 8 led the charge, claiming first place with a time of 16:16.157. The boat featured Pete Bohacek, Chris Engelbert, Ethan Shelley, Nico Del Pozzo, Joe Fontanilla, Connor Williams, Jeremiah James, Troy Guillen, and coxswain Josephine Sedgley.
The Men's JV 8 followed suit, also finishing first in its event with a time of 20:06.806, crewed by Sean Mullaly, Jaxson Dannible, Michael Hillier, Samuel Crowe, Alex Salim, Christian Conrad, Liam Usher, Jake Cordes, and coxswain Ariel Ellis.
Loyola's dominance continued in the fours, with the Men's Varsity 4 – Ethan Shelley, Chris Engelbert, Pete Bohacek, Nico Del Pozzo, and coxswain Josephine Sedgley – winning its race in 17:37.251. The Men's JV 4 also took first place, clocking in at 19:27.087, with Jack Tartamosa, Liam Van Es, Joe Fontanilla, Troy Guillen, and coxswain Autum Plummer.
On the women's side, the Women's Varsity 8 placed 11th in its event with a time of 19:28.444. The crew included Bella Guarnaccia, Marley Vallino, Arianna Grisanti, Emily Dierna, Beata Turnquist, Bella Taranto, Valentina Masi, Norah McGlynn, and coxswain Evangeline Ellsworth.
The Women's Novice 8 finished 4th in their race with a time of 21:47.625, featuring Cass Garcia, Molly Gum, Eileen Depman, Victoria Kolawa, Emily Lutman, Erin Roberts, Heidi Wagner, Trinity McCutcheon, and coxswain Bella Schafer.
In sculling events, Marley Vallino and Bella Taranto took 3rd in the Women's Open 2x Club with a time of 22:01.979, while Miles Steinberg and Jake Cordes placed 8th in the Men's Open 2x at 21:33.646.
The Women's Freshman 8 finished 10th in their event with a time of 12:13.841, rowing with Heidi Wagner, Daphne Konstantinis, Bella Guarnaccia, Victoria Kolawa, Catherine Petrozzini, Molly Collins, Elise Regan, Erin Roberts, and coxswain Addison Grubka. The Women's Varsity 4 placed 12th in 20:53.245, and the Women's JV 4 came in 9th at 21:54.867.
