STORRS, Conn. - Sophomore Matt Bautista netted his first career goal, but the Loyola University Maryland men's soccer team fell to Connecticut, 5-1, Saturday night at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium.

The Huskies scored first when Alex Sanchez snuck a baseline shot into the inside of the near post in the 17th minute.

Sophomore transfer Gabriel Carlsson set up Loyola's goal in the 26th minute by sending a direct kick into the box. Freshman Josh Fawole settled the ball and Bautista put it away from point-blank range for his first career score.

The Huskies had a quick answer though, scoring on their next possession, as Abdou Thiam finished a pass from Andrew Geres to regain the lead for UConn, 2-1, in the 28th minute.

That would be the way the game would stay through the break, but Connecticut opened the second half on fire, scoring two goals within the first 3:30 of play. In the 46th minute, Geres dribbled into the top-right corner of the box and placed a shot between a diving Matt Sanchez and the near post.

Thiam then finished a cross from Jake Nerwinski in the 49th minute, before Nerwinski's goal in the 60th minute gave UConn a 5-1 advantage.

For the game, the Huskies peppered Matt Sanchez with 13 shots, while the Greyhounds finished with four. UConn also held a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks.

The Greyhounds will remain on the road for the second of three-straight away games, as they travel to Pittsburgh for a 7 p.m. kickoff on Tuesday.
