Greyhounds Continue Record Excellence In Classroom

BALTIMORE – Loyola University Maryland student-athletes sported a cumulative 3.343 grade-point average during the Fall 2016 semester, raising their overall mark to the highest in the Department of Athletics' recorded history.
Entering the spring term, the Greyhounds have a 3.302 cumulative GPA. A total of 163 student-athletes – more than 40 percent of Loyola's nearly 400 total competitors – were named to the University's Dean's List as the department had its highest fall-semester GPA in history.
Sixteen Greyhounds teams finished the fall semester with a GPA better than 3.0, both cumulatively and for the term, while a record seven teams were above a 3.5 for the semester. 
The men's cross country team tops the athletic department with a 3.541 cumulative grade-point average, while the women's track and field team is right behind at 3.521.
"Our student-athletes continue to put forth record-breaking achievements in the classroom, and we are proud of their hard work," said Colleen Campbell, Loyola's director of student-athlete support services. "Without the support of out faculty, staff, coaches and administrators, these accolades would not be possible."
The following student-athletes earned 4.0 GPAs during the fall semester: Olivia Airhart (women's track and field), Alden Bauman (women's swimming and diving), Jacob Campbell (men's soccer), Jenna Egan (women's swimming and diving), Richie Easterly (men's lacrosse), Connor Flach (men's golf), Keenan Gibbons (women's rowing), Annie Hayburn (women's swimming and diving), Elizabeth Hunter (women's swimming and diving), Amanda Ignacio (women's lacrosse), Maria Kilcullen (women's basketball), Tori McDonald (women's lacrosse), Kelly McShea (women's volleyball), Chris Myers (men's lacrosse), Madalyn Myers (women's swimming and diving), Robert Scherba (men's rowing), Stephen Tonaszuck (men's swimming and diving), Laurin Vogel (men's soccer), Courtney Vannoy (women's baskeball), Chandler Waldis (men's soccer) and Hana You (women's rowing).
