CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina University used a 14-4 run late in the second half to overcome a Loyola University Maryalnd lead, and the Chanticleers ended the Greyhounds season with a 72-63 victory Monday night in the College Basketball Invitational (CBI) Quarterfinals at the HTC Center.
Andre Walker knocked down his third 3-pointer of the second half with 8:37 left in regulation, giving the Greyhounds a 54-50 lead, and a Jarred Jones basket and free throw 33 seconds later stretched the Greyhounds' lead to seven, but Coastal Carolina (18-17 overall) used strong defense to limit Loyola's looks down the stretch.
After Elijah Wilson made 1-of-2 at the line for the Chanticleers, Artur Labinowicz scored at 7:15. That was the last basket for either team, however, until a Demario Beck putback with 4:30 left got Coastal Carolina within a point, 56-55.
Cam Gregory scored a pair at the free-throw line for the Greyhounds with 4:05 left, but Loyola did not score again until there were just over 48 seconds left in the game.
During that stretch, the Chanticleers took the lead and scored nine-straight points to lead 64-57 on a Beck free throw with 1:14 to play.
Jaylen Shaw led Coastal Carolina with 22 points, going 10-of-19 from the field, while Elijah Wilson had 16 and Beck added 15. 
Chuck Champion scored a season-high 18 points for the Greyhounds, making four 3-pointers along with Walker. Walker scored 12, and Chancellor Barnard added 10. Gregory and Jones each had eight points and nine rebounds.
Loyola (16-17) scored the game's first nine points and went up 18-2 as Champion tallied eight points in the first five minutes of the game. A Walker three with 12:00 to play in the first half pushed the advantage to 16, the largest of the game for either team. 
Coastal Carolina, however, cut its deficit to two, 31-29, at halftime, and the Chanticleers scored the first five points of the second half.
