Walker Leads Leicester Riders To Second-Straight British Title

LEICESTER, England – Loyola University Maryland alumnus Shane Walker '12 helped lead the Leicester Riders of the British Basketball League to its second-consecutive British Basketball League crown on Saturday, helping the side capture the outright title with four games left in the season.
The Riders became the fifth team in League history to win back-to-back titles with a 99-69 victory over the Plymouth Raiders.
Walker played at Loyola from 2008-2012 and helped lead the Greyhounds to the 2012 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference title and the school's first bid in the NCAA Tournament in 18 years.
He scored eight of Leicester's first 17 points in the early going of the Saturday's game. In 28 games this season, of which the Riders have won 25 through April 15, Walker has averaged 6.1 points and 4.7 rebounds per game while shooting 55.8 percent from the field and 75.8 percent from the free-throw line. 
After graduating from Loyola in 2012, Walker started his professional career in Greece playing for AS Apollon Patras before moving to teams in Cyprus and The Netherlands. He returned to his native England – Walker grew up in Northamtpon, England before playing high school basketball in the United States – to play for Plymouth in 2013-2014. He saw a year of action with AS Sale in Morocco, helping the side to the Moroccan Championship.
Walker spent a season with France's L'Union Lourdes before signing with Leicester in 2015-2016.
During his career at Loyola, Walker played in 115 games and started 88. He averaged 7.7 points as a Greyhounds post player along with 5.5 rebounds during his three seasons for Loyola. His 135 career blocked shots rank second all-time at the school, and his 604 rebounds are 12th.
