BOSTON - Loyola University Maryland pulled within five points on two Sam Norton free throws with 4:35 left in regulation, but Boston University held the Greyhounds without a point until Chuck Champion scored in the paint, and Terriers came away with a 64-55 Patriot League victory Wednesday night at Case Gymnasium.

Norton, who tied his career-high with nine points, made two free throws to get Loyola within five, 53-48, and the Greyhounds had the ball after the Terriers missed the front-end of one-and-one at the free throw line. A skip pass sailed wide, however, and Loyola turned the ball back over.

The Greyhounds' defense, however, kept Boston University (12-10 overall, 8-3 Patriot League) off the scoreboard for more than three minutes. The Terriers final broke through when Max Mahoney scored at 1:39, and Javante McCoy added a 3-pointer with less than a minute to go.

Champion scored in the paint with 47 ticks left, but the Terriers held on for the win.

Andre Walker had team-highs of 15 points and eight rebounds for Loyola, while Champion chipped in 12 points.

Boston Unviersity jumped out to an early seven-point lead in the game's first three minutes, but Loyola came back to tie the score at 14-14 on a Norton 19-foot jumper with 11:57 left in the half.

Mahoney, who had a game-high 27 points, dunked to put Boston University ahead by five, 2:30 later, but a Champion three and Walker pull-up jumper at 7:40 tied the score at 19-19.

Two Tyler Scanlon free throws with just over two seconds left in the first half gave the Terriers a 33-29 lead at the break.

Loyola is back in action on Saturday, February 3, when it hosts College of the Holy Cross at 4 p.m. in Reitz Arena.
