BALTIMORE – Bucknell University did not commit a hitting error in the first set and did not allow Loyola University Maryland to score consecutive points in the opening frame, but the Greyhounds rebounded to hit .346 in the final three sets for a 12-25, 25-16, 25-21, 25-11 Patriot League victory.

The Greyhounds had only 11 hitting errors in the final three sets after posting 10 with 10 kills in the first.

Ann Ernst led the Greyhounds (9-11 overall, 4-3 Patriot League) with 16 kills and 18 digs, while
Haley Puddy hit .320 with 12 kills to go with a team-high three blocks.
Abby Hamilton added 10 kills and seven digs, while
Katie Forsythe had a match-best 24 digs.
Alex Fisher and
Molly Werts each had 23 assists, as well.

After dropping the opening set, Loyola went up 9-2 in the second behind three kills from Ernst, and the Greyhounds led by no fewer than five for the rest of the set.

Momentum tilted back to the Bison (6-12, 1-6) in the third set as they scored three-straight points on two kills form Bridgette Holland and another form Sophie Bullard to lead 15-12 at the media timeout.

Molly Jarvis had a kill out of the break to close the Greyhounds within a pair, but Bucknell twice stretched its advantage back to three, the last time coming at 18-15 on a Delanie Lewis kill.
Alisah Cash had kills on three of the next four points, wrapped around a Bucknell ball-handling error, giving Loyola a 19-18 lead with her third.

The Bison called a timeout and broke the run on a Loyola service error, but Puddy had a kill for sideout, and Bucknell committed two-straight hitting errors, giving Loyola a three-point lead it would ride to a 25-21 win in the set.

Loyola then never trailed in the fourth set, going up 14-4 in the first 18 points of the frame.

Holland led Bucknell with seven kills and a .500 hitting percentage in the match.

The Greyhounds return to Reitz Arena on Sunday afternoon to host Colgate University at 2 o'clock in Patriot League play.
