WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Loyola University Maryland golf team finished play at the Old Town Club Collegiate Tuesday afternoon, placing 12th with an 863 team score.
Junior
Preston Ball and sophomore
Evan Brown led the team with a 1-over 71 today, while senior
Erick Alonso finished at 3-over 73. Sophomore
Brett Inserra rounded out the scoring Greyhounds with a 6-over 76.
Brown was the team's top finisher, shooting a 4-over 214 to finish the three rounds tied for 44th. Alonso tied for 57th with a 7-over 217, while Ball was one stroke back of that and 63rd overall at 9-over 219. Inserra was another shot back of Ball, and tied for 64th overall, while sophomore
Brandon Berry finished tied for 66th at 13-over 223 after shooting a 78 today.
Louisville's Matthias Schmid fired a 7-under 63 today to take medalist honors with an 18-under 192, while Wake Forest's Eric Bae (195, -15), Eugenio Chacarra (196, -14), Marco Steyn (200, -10) finished second through fourth, respectively.
Louisville also claimed the team title with a 30-over 810, while Wake Forest finished second at 29-under 811 and Rutgers took third with a 13-under 827.
Loyola will return to North Carolina for its next event, as the Greyhounds travel to Raleigh for the NC State Fall Invitational October 6 and 7.
